Threat of regulation darkens skies over Davos

Almost 40% of chief executives worldwide plan to increase headcount in 2010 as their confidence rebounds from a slump during the financial crisis, according to a study from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The survey, which interviewed 1,198 chief executives from 52 countries, found that 81% of CEOs are confident about their prospects over the next 12 months. This compares to 64% of CEOs who said they were confident a year ago. Only 25% are planning job cuts in 2010--a drop of nearly 50% from 2009.
