Mike Rees is sitting in a suite in the Four Seasons Hotel in Istanbul with his back to The Bosphorus, the waterway that marks the end of Europe and the beginning of Asia. The irony is not lost on a man who, as head of wholesale banking for Standard Chartered bank, is in charge of running a bank that does between the vast majority of its business in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
