High Court backs PwC Legal group litigation against Treasury

PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal has won the High Court's backing to undertake group litigation against the Treasury for up to £0.5bn worth of claims levied on public companies in potentially unlawful stamp duty.
 
The group in question consists of current and former listed firms that had to pay capital duty of 1.5% when they issued shares on foreign stock exchanges such as the US' depositary receipt system.
