FTSE100 companies back gender equality campaign
The chairmen of Lloyds Banking Group and Centrica are backing a new initiative encouraging UK companies to aim for at least 30% female representation on their boards by 2015.
Sir Win Bischoff (Lloyds Banking Group) and Roger Carr (Centrica) are heading up the new 30% Club, which is encouraging other senior business leaders to increase the diversity of their board membership. The group says that although women represent 60% of all university graduates in Europe, the levels of women on boards remain low, with little progress seen at all over the past five years.
