M&S names new finance director

Marks & Spencer has appointed Alan Stewart to the board as chief finance officer. He will join the company by the end of October.
Stewart, 50, is currently CFO at aircraft leasing company AWAS and was group finance director at WH Smith from 2005 to 2008. The former investment banker at HSBC has also led Thomas Cook UK and been group finance head of Thomas Cook Holdings.
"Alan has an impressive track record and will be joining us with extensive experience of retail and other highly competitive industries including travel and banking,” said M&S chief Marc Bolland, who’s only been at the company three months himself.”
Stewart replaces Ian Dyson who’s off to take the top job at Punch Taverns. Dyson leaves M&S on 31 August.
