All Bar One and Harvester pubs chain Mitchells & Butlers has appointed Tim Jones as finance director to take up the role once current M&B finance boss, Jeremy Townsend, leaves the firm on 31 August.

Jones, who has previously held senior financial posts at Novar, Exel, British Gas and Hambros Bank, is currently in the same role at maintenance and building group Interserve, where he will remain for an "appropriate period" to ensure a smooth handover to his successor.

Adam Fowle, chief executive, said: "We are delighted to welcome Tim to the Board. His wide experience will be of great value as we continue to drive the strong performance of the Company."

M&B said that a joining date for the new finance director had not yet been finalised.

Meanwhile Townsend will join rat-catching and cleaning services firm Rentokil where his first objective will be to secure refinancing of its £375m unsecured debt facility, potentially allowing the group to resume dividend payments.
