The battle for business intelligence

CIMA has continued its tradition of advocacy for more sophisticated financial management with the publication of a hefty guide to business intelligence (BI) tools and techniques. John Stokdyk discusses the implications that it raises.

Business intelligence is a good thing. Few finance managers would argue with this premise and there is ample evidence that tools for automating reporting processes, budgets, forecasts and analysis have increased the efficiency of the finance function.
